Spring Fever

Happy Almost Spring-

It's hard to imagine this summer will be 6 years on the SCD! I look at all of the pictures on this site and find it difficult to remember a time when I had the luxury of cooking like that! These days simplicity is king. Tonight we had roasted chicken with green beans. Snacking on almonds and dry wine now. The good news is the kids are great and things are getting easier and easier every day. I cannot believe how many fabulous recipes and websites are out there now. Many similar diets, like Paleo, have taken off as well and lots of the recipes are adaptable. I look forward to a day when I can test out the elaborate dishes I see on these sites. For now I am enjoying life with twin three year olds and a one year old. Always thankful to Elaine for pioneering the SCD. I cannot imagine where I would be without it!

I am just finding your blog. I started the SCD diet just 2 weeks ago for IBD. Because I'm eating so much fruit and veggies, I'm finding my system bloating and gassy. Did you have trouble with any digestive 'transitioning' early on? I'm feeling at a loss for 'calming' foods to balance this out.
I see you don't post much anymore due to your young family but thanks for the blog. It's very helpful!

Hi,

I just wanted to say thank you. Your blog, has changed my life. Until I found it, I was (un)happily taking my medication every single day, having severe colitis, literally getting to the stage where I was almost begging to have my colon removed.

Yes, I wanted it gone. So I wouldn't have the pain of being disabled anymore.

However, by some miracle I found your blog. You say: "...I have little patience for people who tell me they don't have time to follow the SCD..."

And that to me is gospel. All my friends ask me - "how do you do it?? I could never do something like that, I'd have to give up everything!" But it's different for us. We have a reason, a cause, and a light to look forward to where our lives don't have to be inundated with chemicals and medication and unnatural substances just to make our lives liveable. And you know the worst part? It's telling others to do the same, sharing them my wonderful story and having them tell me "thanks but I'd rather continue with my medication that's actually going to work thanks". Uh yeah, how is that going for you?

Now through SCD within 7 WEEKS I am 100% medication free, symptom free and my blood tests are glowing (iron levels normal without supplements for the first time in 7+ years). Yes, I am not kidding you!

THANK YOU!

This to me now, is a lifestyle change. It's not a diet, it's how I live my life every day. And god it feels good. I will never go back now.

Again,
Thank you.

P.s, my doctor called it "the plaecebo effect". God bless his soul.
